Brokenness

Have you ever had your heart broken by someone you loved? A family member, boyfriend, or girlfriend, husband or wife? Jesus knows how we feel. He had his heart broken by those he loved. The ones he, healed of their diseases, open their blind eyes, those he made to walk, and by those he fed when they were hungry.

Where were they on the day that Jesus was crucified? Some of them were in the crowd yelling crucify him, crucify him, or they were in hiding, afraid to stand up for Jesus. Yet he loved the all. Most of us, if not all of us have experienced a broken heart of some kind.I look back on my life and recall a time when I was so crushed, I didn’t think I could go on. My world, my dreams, my plans had come crashing down on me. Had it not been for the Lord Jesus on my side and my love for him, I would’ve given up, and lived the rest of my life depressed, believing I was a failure, and very bitter. It was a dark time in my life. But the word of God breaks bondages. I remembered, Romans 8:28 “..and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to his purpose.”

I begin to fight the feelings of hopelessness with the word of God. His love had not changed, he still loved me.  What Satan meant for evil Jesus will turn around for my good. I begin to draw strength from God’s written Word, scriptures like Proverbs 3:5,”trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding.”Psalms 34:8, “oh taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man the trust in him. Romans 8:37, ”In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” Our Lord Jesus is faithful to deliver us and give us hope and to lift us out of brokenness. Let brokenness be a steppingstone, not a stumbling block, into the life God created you to live, He loves you and he always will.
